RANGPUR: Comprehensive efforts could create adequate public awareness to speed up development of women and children through ensuring safe maternity, maternal and neonatal health services and eradication of social curses, reports BSS.
The views were expressed at an orientation workshop organised for leading personalities in the society by District Information Office (DIO) at Laksmichap Union Parishad hall room in Nilphamari Sadar upazila yesterday.
Nilphamari DIO organised the workshop under the fourth-phase of the Maas Communication Programme for Development of Children and Women Project. With Laksmichap union Chairman Aminur Rahman in the chair, Deputy Commissioner of Nilphamari Zakir Hossain attended the workshop as the chief guest.
The chief guest narrated the epoch-making steps taken by the present government through re-launching community clinics to ensure health services for rural people, sub-stipends for female students and other programmes for women and children development.
He called upon every conscious citizen, religious and community leaders, public representatives, civil society members, media workers and teachers to create social awareness and work with utmost integrity in ensuring sustainable development of women and children.
Civil Surgeon of Nilphamari Dr Abdur Rashid, Sadar upazila Chairman Abuzar Rahman and Assistant Commissioner (Land) Fakhrul Hassan delivered separate presentations in the workshop as resource persons.
President of Kurigram Press Club Mominul Islam Manju, Editor and Publisher of the Weekly Juger Khabar SM Nurul Amin Sarker addressed the workshop as special guests.
Moderated by District Information Officer for Nilphamari Tozammel Haque, 25 public representatives, teachers, religious leaders, community leaders, civil society members, women activists, journalists, professionals and local elite participated in the workshop.
