Jhalakathi: A court here yesterday sentenced a man to life imprisonment for killing his father at Rola village under Rajapur upazila of the district in 2014, reports BSS.
The court also fined him Taka 20,000, in default, to suffer more two years of rigorous imprisonment.
The convict is M Kamal Hossain, 30, resident of the same area.
District and Session Judge M Shafikul Karim pronounced the verdict at his crowded courtroom.
The prosecution story, in brief, is that son Kamal hit on the head of his father Siraj Hawlader, 65, with a heavy wood over a family feud on November 10, 2014.
Critically injured Siraj died at Rajapur Upazila Health Complex on the same day. After his death, victim’s wife Joytunnesa filed a case with Rajapur Thana against her son.
After investigation of the case, sub inspector of the thana A Barek submitted charge sheet to the court against Kamal on December 31, 2014.
Later, the Judge, after examining the witnesses and evidence, found Kamal guilty and handed down the punishment in his presence.
