PKSF to set up 2000 water tanks for preserving rain waters

Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) has taken a programme to set up 2000 water tanks in different villages in five coastal districts for preserving rain water, according to an official release of the organisation, reports BSS.
The state-owned development organisation will also build 19 water desalination plants in the selected coastal districts where people are facing various problems from frequent flooding by saline water. The water tanks will be built for Taka 2.80 crore and the installation cost of the desalination plants will be Taka 4.80 crore. The development partner UKaid is providing the necessary fund under the Learning and Innovation Fund to Test New Ideas (LIFT) project. PKSF will organise a workshop today in its office in the capital on the ways of meeting the demands for drinking water in the coastal areas and benefit of preserving rain water and desalination. PKSF has been supporting various innovative projects under the LIFT projects since 2006 with financial support from UKaid.
