Students to get smart ID 
cards in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI: College and school students will get smart ID cards for the first time in the city very soon and the city dwellers are adjudging the initiative as epoch-making.
Fazley Hossain Badsha, MP, who took the initiative, told BSS that five government schools and colleges are bring brought under the modern ICT in preliminary stage.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) on software relating to school-college students smart ID card and School College Management has been signed. Fazley Hossain Badsha signed the agreement with Northwestern IT Village Limited in the office of Deputy Commissioner here on Sunday for execution of the project.
Deputy Commissioner Mejbah Uddin Chowdhury, chairman of the company Prof Chowdhury Jakaria, Managing Director Advocate Arman Ali and Poet Prof Ruhul Amin Pramanik were present on the
occasion.
On promotion of the card, students' presence in the class needs not to be counted. Instantly, the parents will get mobile phone message when the students touch the card on the machine to be installed in the gate at the time of their entrance and exit.
The process will save time and the authorities' concerned can deter number of students' presence or absence with just a click on keyboard of the computer. They can inform the parents about their children's presence in the school.
Lawmaker Badsha says the institutes will launch their own website alongside other online activities under the scheme. Information of every student will remain preserved in database, as well as, absence and presence, message option, tabulation sheet, admission card, transcript, pay-roll and fee collection. Necessary devices will also be installed for successful operation of the modern system.
Badsha mentioned that the venture will supplement the government's digital Bangladesh programme to some extent.
