‘Collective efforts important for stopping adulteration’

NARSINGDI: Speakers at a meeting underlined the importance of ensuring the rights of consumers of the country, reports BSS.
They made the call at an awareness meeting held on Monday at Sadar Upazila Parishad conference room.
The speakers said there is no alternative to launch a social movement for ensuring consumers rights. They also said the markets have been flooded with formalin and carbide mixed fruits, fish and other food items even during the holy month of Ramadan.
The speakers said collective efforts of all authorities concerned including the media are very important for stopping adulteration in food items.
Deputy Commissioner Abu Hena Morshed Zaman addressed the meeting as chief guest while Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Khandaker Nural Hoque presided over the meeting.
Chairman of Sadar Upazila Parishad Monzur Elahi also addressed the meeting as special guest.
Assistant Director of National Consumer Rights Protection, Narsingdi, Rahan Quaddus delivered the welcome speech.
Abu Hena Morshed Zaman said a comprehensive effort of all is very essential to protect the consumers’ rights.
