Ministers and deputies can give more aid now

The government has raised the limit of financial assistance for ministers, state ministers, and deputy ministers to help the people of their respective areas. Now, a minister can provide of Tk. 50,000 instead of Tk. 25,000 to a person or an organisation, while a state minister can provide Tk. 35,000 instead of Tk. 6,000, and a deputy minister can provide Tk. 25,000 instead of Tk. 6,000.
According to a circular issued by the Cabinet Division yesterday, the move would come into effect from July 1. Additional secretary Md Abdul Wadud told The Independent that they have increased the limit of the financial assistance according to the Ministers, Ministers of State and Deputy Ministers (Remuneration and Privileges) Act.
The government has also increased the total limit of the annual financial assistance. For a minister, the limit has been raised from Tk. 600,000 to Tk. 1,000,000; for a state minister, it has been raised from Tk. 300,000 to Tk. 750,000; and for a deputy minister, from Tk. 300,000 to Tk. 500,000 according to the act.
