A poultry farm was gutted in a fire killing at least 5,000 chickens at Nijputia village in Jhenaidah Sadar upazila yesterday morning. Local people said the fire originated at about 4 am at the farm owned by Saifuzzaman Milon in the village. At least 5,000 chickens of the poultry farm burnt to death in the fire incident. Poultry farm owner Saifuzzaman said there were 10,000 chickens at his farm. He was informed the fire incident by the workers of the farm early yesterday and rushed to the spot. Hundreds of people form nearby villages rushed to the spot and doused the fire.
