2 killed in Khulna road crash
Two people astride a motorcycle were killed as they were sandwiched between two buses in Baroitala area of Batiaghata of Khulna district yesterday morning. The deceased were identified as Bhola Sarker, 23, son of Naresh Sarker, and Uttam Mallick, 42, son of Probash Mallick, of Debitala village in the upazila. Enamul Haque, officer-in-charge of Batiaghata Police Station, said a bus pinned the motorcycle of the due to another in the area around 9am, leaving them critically injured. The injured were taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital where doctors declared them dead.
‘bKash’ agent robbed of Tk 2 lakh in Gazipur
Miscreants looted Tk 2 lakh from an agent of mobile money transfer service provider ‘bKash’ after shooting him at Mirerbazar in the city yesterday, reports UNB.
Three people riding a motorcycle intercepted Mohammad Azmir, 22, and shot him while he was on money collection from local representatives around 2 pm, leaving him injured, said Mobarak Hossain, sub-inspector of Pubail Police camp. Later, the muggers snatched away the bag containing money from him. The injured was rushed to a hospital in Dhaka.
Youth beaten dead in Ctg
A young man was beaten to death inside a brick kiln by its workers at Padua in Lohagarah of Chittagong district on Thursday.
Mohammad Shahjahan, officer-in-charge of Lohagarah Police Station, said workers of the brick kiln caught Mahiuddin suspecting him as a thief around 7 am.
Later they gave him a good thrashing, leaving him dead on the spot. On information, police rushed in and arrested 14 people, including the owner of the brick kiln, Liakat, in connection with the incident.
