Man found dead in Pabna
Pabna: A man was found dead at Pathailhat in Santhia upazila on Thursday, reports UNB.
Local people spotted the body of Jalal Uddin, 50, a resident of Nagdemra village, in the area at noon and informed police, said Nasir Uddin, officer-in-charge of Santhia Police Station.
Police recovered the body and sent it to Pabna General Hospital. Police suspected that criminals might have beaten Jalal Uddin to death as the body bore several injury marks and dumped the body there at some time at night.
The motive behind the killing could not be known immediately.
3 child labourers burnt
Laxmipur: Three child labourers received burn injuries after a fire broke out at a workshop in College Road area of the district town on Thursday, reports BSS.
The victims were identified as Mohammad Delwar,14, Litton Hossain,13 and Ibrahim,10.
The trio were admitted to the burn unit of Laxmipur Sadar Hospital.
Anwar Hossain, resident medical officer of the hospital, said 15 to 25 per cent of bodies of two child labourers were burnt. Another child labourer is out of danger, he added. The fire, broke out at ‘Al Noor Workshop’ at around 5 pm yesterday, originated from an electric short circuit, the fire service sources said.
Fire halts fertiliser production
Sylhet: The authorities suspended production at Fenchuganj Fertilizer Factory on Thursday following a fire incident, reports UNB.
The fire originated from a drain at the factory in the evening, said Abdul Khalek, officer-in-charge of Fenchuganj Police Station.
On information, firefighters rushed to the spot and doused the blaze. A probe committee has been formed to investigate the incident, added the OC.
Boy drowns in fish enclosure
Benapole: A minor boy drowned in a fish enclosure and his twin bother fainted noticing the incident at Arua village in Keshabpur upazila of Jessore district yesterday, reports UNB.
Local people said six-year-old Abul Hasan and Abul Hossain, twin sons of Rezaul Islam of Sagardattakathi village, went on a visit to their maternal grandfather’s house along with their mother.
On Friday morning, both the sibling went to a fish enclosure of their grandfather.
At one stage, Abul Hossain slipped into the fish enclosure and drowned while Abul Hasan fell unconscious seeing the incident.
Later he was rushed to Keshabpur Upazila Health Complex.
