2 women found dead in capital

Police yesterday recovered bodies of two women from two different areas in the capital. Among the two, Abida Sultana Annanya, 20, a private university student, allegedly committed suicide at her home in Pallabi while Majeda Begum, 45, a domestic help, was electrocuted at a house where she worked in Maddhya Badda in the capital. Sub Inspector Rafiqul Islam of Pallabi Police Station said, getting information from locals, police recovered the hanging body of Annanya from house no 55 of Pallabi Block -5. The body was sent to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) morgue for autopsy. Quoting victim’s family members, the police officer said that the girl was talking with her boyfriend over phone for a long time on Sunday night. Later, somewhere at night, she committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan. Meanwhile, police recovered body of Majdeda from her work place at Maddya Badda around 11:00am. According to her nephew Nazmul Hossain, Majeda went to the house of one Salam  Miah for work. After a while, he received a phone call telling him that Majeda became senseless after being electrocuted inside the house. “Later I brought her to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital but the on-duty doctor declared him dead,” said Nazmul. Inspector Mozammel Haque, in-charge of DMCH police camp, told The Independent that the bodies were kept at morgue for autopsy. After getting the autopsy reports, the actual reasons behind the deaths would be known, he said. Two cases of unusual deaths were lodged with respective police stations.
