Four killed, 40 hurt in road crashes

Four people were killed and 40 others injured in separate road accidents in Comilla and Mymensingh yesterday.
In Comilla: Three people, including a woman, were killed as a truck crashed into an auto-rickshaw in front of the Chouddogram upazila health complex yesterday morning, reports UNB.
The identities of the deceased could not be ascertained yet.
Inspector (Investigation) of Chouddogram Police Station Mahfuz Ahmed said the Chittagong-bound truck from Dhaka smashed the auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction in the area around 10:30am, leaving the auto-rickshaw’s three passengers dead on the spot.
Our Mymensingh correspondent says: A bus helper was killed and 40 passengers were injured after two buses collided head-on at Bagunda on Mymensingh-Haluaghat road in Tarakanda upazila yesterday afternoon.
The victim, aged about 30, could not be identified immediately.
The accident took place when a Dhaka-bound bus of Shayamali paribahan collided with a Haluaghat-bound bus of Islam paribahan around 4.30pm, leaving helper of Shayamali paribahan dead on the spot and injuring 40 others, said Mazharul Haque, officer-in-charge of Tarakanda Police Station.
Of the injured, six were rushed to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital and 10 were admitted at Phulpur Upazila Health Complex. The others were given first aid, police said.
