Two senior BNP leaders yesterday termed the arrest of party leader Aslam Chowdhury on charges of making contacts with Mosssad, the Israeli intelligence agency, as a stage-managed drama. Their comments came following the news of an alleged meeting between Mossad and Aslam Chowdhury to overthrow the incumbent government.
At a meeting, BNP standing committee member Goyeshwar Chandra Roy alleged that the government has arrested the BNP joint secretary general to garner the support of the Muslim world. At a press conference, BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed accused the government of enacting a drama about Aslam Chowdhury to divert the heist at Bangladesh Bank.
Rizvi said he did not see any problem in speaking to an Israeli, who was a businessman invited by India.
Aslam Chowdhury was arrested from Dhaka on Sunday on charges of developing contacts with the Mossad to overthrow the Hasina government.
