Mohammedan Sporting Club continued their winning spree when they posted their fourth straight victory over BKSP by 35 runs in the first-leg encounter of the Dhaka Premier Division Women’s Cricket League at the BKSP-4 yesterday.
Motijheel outfit earlier mauled Indira Road Cricket Academy by 90 runs following a comprehensive 120-run win against Gulshan Youth Club and another 15-run triumph against Khelaghar SKS.
Despite Nahida Akhtar’s four-for Mohammedan Sporting Club compiled 181-7 in the stipulated 40 overs with Farzana Haque scoring 81, after which BKSP managed to score 146 for five in 40 overs.
Opting to bat first, Mohammedan lost their openers-Rubaiya Haydar and Eti Mondol cheaply but Farzana Haque in association with Lata Mondal hit a 71-run for the third wicket. Lata fell for 38.
Then Farzana tried to accelerate the scoringwheel with fellow batters. She top-scored with 81 off 152, hitting 10 fours and one six. Deepika remained not out on 21.
Nahida Akhtar was the main pick of the bowlers, claiming four wickets for 13. Sobhana Mostary picked up two wickets for BKSP.
Chasing the 182-run target, BKSP made a glimmer of hopes through a 115-run stand of Farzana Akter and Sobhana Mostary after losing opener Morsheda Khatun (15). But their hopes were shattered when they lost four wickets in the space of just four runs. Sobhana made the highest 59, Farzana Akhtar blasted 47 for BKSP.
Salma Khatun snapped up two wickets, while Khadijatul Kubra and Sharifa Khatun bagged one wicket each for the victors.
