Hindu devotee stabbed over extortion

A Hindu devotee was injured in an attack by some miscreants for refusing to pay extortion at Shalkhali village in Ashashuni upazila of Satkhira yesterday, reports UNB.
Shamiran Sarkar, brother of the victim, said miscreants swooped on Pankaj Sarkar, 50, who lives in a room adjacent to Shyamsundar Iskon Temple, while sleeping.
The miscreants stabbed Pankaj in the head twice and then beat him, leaving him injured.
Miscreants led by notorious Ziaur Rahman alias Afgan Zia carried out the attack after failing to realise Tk 3 lakh toll from Pankaj which they had demanded from him three months ago, alleged Shamiran. Later, Pankaj was rushed to Ashashuni Upazila Health Complex.
