Hamilton Masakadza smashed a century when Kalabagan Krira Chakra tasted their league’s first win over Cricket Coaching School by 49 runs in the fourth round clash of the Dhaka Premier League at the Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah yesterday.
Elsewhere at BKSP Groud-3, Legends of Rupganj beat Kalabagan Cricket Academy by 29 runs (D/L method).
Kalabagan KC vs CCS
Shadman Islam Anik partnered Hamilton Masakadza after losing their opener Jashimuddin inside three over and shared a 74-run for the second wicket. Anik was three runs shy of half century. He busted one six and four fours in his 63-ball innings.
Then Masakadza tried to extend their collection with fellow batsmen. On way to his 115, he stitched a string of partnership including 77-run third wicket with Tasamul Haque, who fell for 37.
Masadazka was out while Kalabagan KC amassed 233-7. Zimbabwean hard-hitter, who later named the player of the match, clattered 10 fours and two sixes in his 105-ball 115. Later they managed to set a challenging 271 for CCS.
Nasum Ahmed scalped three for 47. Salman Hossain and Ullam Sarkar picked up two wickets each for CCS.
In reply, Cricket Coaching School, who formed their team mostly with young players for the season, fell into the combined attack of pace and spin. Mashrafe Bin Mortaza gave the first breakthrough for his team removing Amit Majumdar but Abdur Razzak was the pick of the bowlers for Kalabagan. Razzak gave away just 32 runs to bag four wickets in 10 overs. He was ably aided by Mashrafe, who finally claimed two wickets for 43.
After Amit’s dismissal, Pinak Ghosh (45) made 69-run second wicket with Saif Hassan (34) and then Rajin Saleh (27) hit 48-run with Uttam Sarkar for the sixth wicket, which produced a glimmer of hopes but those were not enough to surpass the target. Uttam top-scored with 63 off 67 with five fours and two sixes.
Rupganj vs Kalabagan CA
Legends of Rupganj compiled a fighting 239-9 in 50 overs with Asif Ahmed making 82 and Sajjadul Haque 70. After losing five wickets inside 81, Asif and Sajjadul Haque put on 131-run for the sixth wicket, which laid a strong ground for the team, who finally set a 240-run target for Kalabagan CA. Abu Jayed Rahi was the main toast of the side who hauled four wickets for 50.
But the proceeding of the second innings was delayed by the sudden downpours. Later, Kalabagan was given a target of 171 runs from 25 overs. Kalabagan managed to score 141-7 in 25 overs. Taposh Ghosh topscored for Kalabagan with 37 not out. Bishawnath Halder remained at stumps at 32.
Mosharraf Hossain and Nahidul Islam snared a brace each for the victors. Asif Ahmed was named player of the match.
