Exhibition of drawings, installations begins today

A month-long solo exhibition of drawings, objects and installations by Anisuzzaman Sohel titled ‘Intimate Fears’ will begin today at Bengal Art Lounge, Gulshan in the city. The exhibition will be jointly inaugurated by Australian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Greg Wilcock and artist Shishir Bhattacharjee, Professor, Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka today at 6:30pm. The second solo exhibition of Anisuzzaman Sohel continues to delve upon foundational themes in the artist’s oeuvre: the alienation of the individual, the yearning for nature, the overwhelming power of systems - be the economic, political or military. The relationship to nature, or rather the longing for it, offers another point of entry in the artist’s ‘Intimate Fears’. ‘Intimate Fears’ is also the last exhibition of the gallery under the current banner and in this premise. However, to spread, influence and contribute to the growth of artistic expressions in the country, Bengal Foundation aims to continue their support through other entirely non-profit endeavours.
The exhibition will remain open to all every day from 12pm to 8pm until June 4. l
