Awami League publicity secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud yesterday said in bid to cover up her corruption and misdeeds of her son, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has been indulging in a dirty game against the family of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, reports BSS. "The government will be compelled to publish the information (papers containing her misdeeds) against her if she doesn't refrain from her dirty game," he warned. Dr Hasan Mahmud sounded the warning to BNP chairperson while speaking at a press conference at the political office of Awami League president Sheikh Hasina at Dhanmondi in the city.
The press conference was convened to give reply to Begum Khaleda Zia's remarks delivered against the government, the ruling Awami League and Prime Minister's family at the May Day public rally at the Suhrawardy Udyan.
Dr Hasan Mahmud said, "Begum Khaleda Zia is a self-proclaimed corrupt person as she whitened black money. But, she could not provide any information relating to the source of the black money she had whitened."
"Tarique Rahman looted Taka two lakh crore by creating a defacto 'power house' (parallel administration), Hawa Bhaban, while BNP was in power. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) of the United States has been investigating his (Tarique Rahman) corruption. Begum Zia's youngest son (Koko) was punished by a court in Singapore as he was convicted of corruption. His ill-gotten money was brought back to the country," he said.
The AL leader added that an amount of Taka 980.20 crore had been looted exclusively from public banks by Begum Khaleda Zia, two of her sons Tarique and Koko and her family members while BNP was in power.
