Eight killed in Cox’s Bazar, 
Gazipur road crashes

Eight people were killed and 15 others injured in separate road crashes in Cox’s Bazar and Gazipur yesterday, reports UNB.
In Cox’s Bazar, five people, including a woman, were killed and 15 others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and pickup van on Cox’s Bazar-Chittagong highway in Chakaria upazila yesterday morning. One of the deceased was identified as Anwara Begum, 35, wife of Gias Uddin, hailing from Dulahazra of the upazila.
Police said the accident occurred at Fasiakhal around
11:30am when the Cox’s Bazar-bound bus of ‘Unique
Paribahan’ collided with the Chakaria-bound pickup van, locally known as ‘Magic vehicle’, on the highway, leaving the five dead on the spot.
The injured people were admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital and Dulahazra Christian Memorial Hospital.
In Gazipur, three people were killed in separate road crashes in Kaliakoir and Sreepur upazilas of the district.
Abdul Motaleb, OC of Kaliakoir Police Station, said two unidentified pedestrians were killed when a bus ran over them while crossing road in Kaliakoir Bypass area yesterday afternoon.
