St Gregory’s off to flying start in school handball

St. Gregory’s High School got off to a flying start when they overwhelmed Green Dale International School by 20-1 goals in the opener of the Hurrah Under-10 School Handball Tournament at Shaheed Captain M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium in the capital yesterday. In the one-sided match of the boys’ group, the winning team led the first half with 11-1 goals. Dhaka Residential Model School and College scored victories in their two matches, while Scholastica was defeated in their both two matches.
Dhaka Residential outplayed Scholastica by 25-0 and Green Herald by 19-3, South Breeze routed Green Dale International School by 10-4, Heed International beat Scholastica by 5-3, Sunnydale thumped Green Gems by 18-1, while Ideal School and College trounced Dhanmondi Tutorial by 7-3 in other matches of the boys’ group.
In girls’ group, Sunnydale edged past South Point School and College by 15-3, Viqarunnisa School and College whacked past Heed International, Green Herald International School brushed aside Dhanmondi Tutorial and Green Dale International School tramped South Breeze School by 4-3.
AKM Moinul Islam Moin, head of marketing and sales of Pran Confectionary Limited, inaugurated the tournament as the chief guest.
Bangladesh Handball Federation (BHF) general secretary Asaduzzaman Kahinoor, tournament committee chairman Farhana Haque, girls’ division secretary Laijul Karim Kosturi, boys’ division secretary Dost Mahmud Nuri Shah and organising committee member Salem Miah Babu were also present.
