The ruling Awami League-led 14-party alliance will arrange two rallies—one in Dhaka and the other in Rajshahi— in the first half of May protesting what it says the anti-state conspiracy of the BNP-Jamaat clique and demanding quick execution of the war crimes verdicts, reports UNB. The rally in the capital will be held on the Central Shaheed Minar premises on May 8 while that in Rajshahi city on May 14, where central leaders of the ruling alliance speak.
The decision came at a meeting of the 14-party combine held at AL President’s Dhanmondi political office with the alliance’s spokesman and Health Minister Mohammad Nasim in the chair, said a press release. At the meeting, the 14-party leaders expressed deep shock at the recent killings in the country’s several places, including Rajshahi University, Dhaka, Comilla and Gopalganj, and demanded exemplary punishment of the culprits following fair investigation.
They strongly condemned what they said ‘propaganda of the evil force’, BNP-Jamaat, against the Prime Minister’s IT adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy. In fact, the BNP-Jamaat is now engaged in propaganda spreading baseless, fabricated and peculiar stories against Joy to divert people’s attention from their attempt to kill Joy to a different direction, they alleged. Welcoming the government’s decision to reduce the fuel prices, the alliance leaders demanded the government take initiative immediately to lower transport fares.
