Some 650 parliamentarians and representatives from 53 countries under nine regions will participate in the 62nd Commonwealth Par­liamentary Association (CPA) conference to be held here in September next, reports UNB. Speaker of Bangladesh Parliament Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury yesterday said this while addressing the half-yearly CPA executive committee meeting as the chairperson at Portcullis House of British Parliament in London, said a Parliament Secretariat handout yesterday. “Bangladesh has formed 26 sub-committees to arrange the conference successfully and the committees have already started their preparations to this end defining their working areas,” said Dr Shirin, also the Chairperson of the CPA Executive Committee. CPA Vice Chairperson Shirley M Osborne, MLA, Secretary General Akbar Khan, Treasurer Request Muntanga MP and Chairperson of Commonwealth Women Parliamentarian Rebecca Kadaga, among others, attended the meeting.
