Once-popular film actor Wasim has been away from the media limelight for quite some time now. From film awards to programmes on various television channels to even news on the entertainment pages, Wasim has certainly kept himself away from the media buzz. However, it seems that he will be back again into the limelight as the Commitment Cultural Academy has taken an initiative to honour the veteran actor. DhakaLive has news that Commitment Cultural Academy will honour the actor with their ‘Commitment Personality Lifetime Achievement Award’. The news has been confirmed by the organisation’s president Md Yunus Talukdar Raju and general secretary Tanzila Akhtar Pew. The lifetime achievement award will be conferred to Wasim at Radisson Hotel’s Ballroom on May 11, the day when the organisation will be celebrating completing a decade.
Regarding the honour, Wasim said, “I always try to live in my own way and have always been doing so. Md Yunus Talukdar Raju is very close to me and has wanted to honour me for a while now. Also, he has always tried to honour me with the utmost respect. It was not possible for me to refuse this time around and that is why, I have agreed to attend the programme. ”
Wasim, whose family name is Mezbahuddin Ahmed, began his acting journey through the film ‘Rater Por Din’ directed by Mohsin. Wasim acted opposite popular actress Babita. It was Mohsin who named him Wasim. From his very first film, he received much adulation as an actor. This was followed by the film ‘Ke Asol Ke Nokol’, directed by Momtaz Ali, which was also a huge success. He reached new heights and fame from the success of these films. He then starred in various notable films such as ‘Rajdulari’, ‘Daku Mansur’, ‘Chandan Dwiper Rajkanya’, ‘The Rain’, ‘Iman’, ‘Dost Dushman’’Asman Zameen’, ‘Dhormo Amar Ma’, ‘Asami Hajir’, among others. l
