Outlawed leader killed
Pabna: A regional outlawed party leader was hacked to death by criminals in Bhinnogram area of Santhia upazila yesterday morning, reports UNB.
The deceased was identified as Al Amin Hossain, 35, son of Fazlal Miah, a resident of the area and a regional leader of Purba Banglar Communist Party (ML- Lal Pataka).
Abdur Razzak, officer-in-charge of Ataikula police station, said miscreants hacked Al Amin early in the morning near the Ichhamati river. Later farmers spotted his body lying in the area and informed police.
Police recovered the body and sent it to Pabna General Hospital. Al Amin was accused in several cases, including for murder, with Santhia and Ataikula police stations, added the OC. Police suspected the outlawed leader was killed by his party rivals over establishing supremacy.

Prisoner dies in Pabna

Pabna: An under-trial prisoner died at Pabna General Hospital yesterday morning, reports UNB.
The deceased identified as Shraban,6, son of Anwar Hossain, a resident of Sanra Gopalpur village in Ishwardi upazila, was an accused in a case under the Narcotics Control Act. Obaidur Rahman, jail superintendent, said Sraban complained of chest pain at about 8:am.
He died immediately after he was taken to a hospital at about 8:45am.

Father, son stabbed

A man and his son were stabbed by snatchers at Muktagacha upazila headquarters of Mymensingh district on Saturday.
The victims were identified as Shamsul Haque, 50, and his son Nayan Miah, 25, of village Baniakazi in Muktagacha.
Quoting victims as saying, Abu Mohammad Fazlul Karim, officer-in-charge of Muktagacha police Station said when Shamsul and Nayan were on their way home after drawing Tk 20,000 as loan from an NGO at Paratongi in Muktagacha upazila headquarters, some 2/3 snatchers allegedly led by Sujon, 23, stabbed Shamsul Haque and snatched away the money around 5pm. When Nayan forwarded to save his father, the gang also stabbed Nayan.
Hearing their scream, local people rushed to the spot, chased the gang and caught Sujon. Later, Sujon, son of Kader Farazi of Paratongi was handed over to police after a good beating.
The victims were rushed to Muktagacha upazila health complex. But later they were shifted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. Shamsul is still undergoing treatment in the hospital. However, the snatched money is yet to be recovered, said the OC.
