A youth was beaten to death over enmity at Jalabari village in Nesarabad upazila of Pirojpur yesterday.
The deceased was Palash Hawlader, son of Amir Hossain Hawlader of village South Somudoykathi in the upazila.
Deceased’s family sources said the supporters of newly elected union parisad chairman Ashish Baral of Jalabari union in Nesarabad upazila picked up Palash from East Jalabari Bazaar on Friday night.
His body was found lying in a field adjacent to a local boys’ high school yesterday morning.
However, police sources said two unidentified youths picked up Palash on a motorbike while he was taking tea yesterday morning adjacent to Jalabari Girls’ High School.
Afterwards, locals found his body lying in a field adjacent to the boys’ high school at about 12am yesterday.
On information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body. Police found injury marks on different parts of the body.
Md Monirul Islam, officer-in-charge of Nesarabad police station told this correspondent that police primarily think that Palash might have been killed over enmity. The OC also added that deceased Palash was an accused in a murder case.
