The 'Training on English Language Teaching (ELT) for Madrasa English Teachers' being organised by the American Center has been effectively enhancing English teaching skills of the madrasa's teachers, reports BSS.
English language educators made the views at concluding ceremony of the daylong third 'Training on ELT for Madrasa English Teachers' held at Kadamtola Dakhil Madrasa in the city on Friday.
The American Center at Dhaka organised the training course facilitated by Rangpur Human Resources Development Foundation (HRD) for enhancing English teaching skills of the Dakhil-level English teachers.
Fifteen Dakhil-level madrasa English teachers with one each from 15 madrasas under Rangpur Sadar upazila participated in the training to develop their skills, techniques and expertise for teaching English to their students.
Chilmari Upazila Academic Supervisor Abdul Halim inaugurated the training course and attended the concluding ceremony as the chief guest.
Md Nurunnabi, an E-teacher alumni of US Department of State, teaching excellence achievement programme (TEA) and international leaders in education programme (ILEP) conducted the training as the main educator.
Assistant Teachers Mahfuz Hossain of Gopalpur SRC BL High School in Ghoraghat upazila of Dinajpur and Anwar Hossain of Shakhawat Hossain Residential School & College in Shaghata upazila of Gaibandha participated as co-educators on behalf of HRD.
Nurunnabi used his experience learnt from the University of Maryland, University of Oregon and World Denver in the USA while conducting the training course which was also focusing on different cross cultural issues to the Madrasa English teachers.
While sharing experience, the participants expressed satisfaction for learning different modern techniques and methods encompassing the technologies on 'Teaching English to Speakers of Other Language (TESOL)'.
They also committed to apply the skills acquired from the training course in their classrooms and expected to establish themselves as an example of the change makers through continuing the good practices learnt from the training.
Participant teachers Roksana Khatun and Mominul Islam expressed deep gratitude to the American Center for initiating the 'Training on ELT for Madrasa English Teachers' that has become very effective in changing their outlooks for teaching English.
