Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) brought out a protest procession and barricaded Bakshiganj road on Monday demanding release of its leader, who was arrested for beating a local journalist.
According to sources, President of Bakshiganj upazila BCL Zahidul  Talukdar called local reporter Billal Hossain Mondal at his office and beat him up for publishing a news favouring a businessman.
Bakshiganj police arrested Zahidul Talukdar from his residence at Malibag area on Monday following a case filed by victim Billal.
Following his arrest, BCL workers and leaders brought out protest procession, blocked Bakshiganj road and vandalized some vehicles.
Police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
