BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia yesterday sent a greeting card to Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to mark the Pahela Baishakh, the first day Bengali New Year 1423. The former premier also sent another greeting card to Awami League General Secretary Syed Ashraful Islam. A four-member BNP delegation led by party’s Social Welfare Secretary Abul Khaier Bhuiyan handed over the two greeting cards as the AL president’s political office in Dhanmondi yesterday afternoon. AL office secretary Abdus Sobhan Golap received the cards. BNP official Abdul Latif Jony confirmed that they handed over the cards to Sheikh Hasina’s political office. He said BNP chairperson has greeted the premier and AL general secretary through the cards. The nation will celebrate the Pahela Baishakh on Thursday amid traditional fanfare and festivity.
