‘Krishnapakkha’ invited to Geneva Int’l Film Festival

DL reporter

Meher Afroz Shaon’s directorial debut film ‘Krishnapakkha’, based on a novel by late noted writer Humayun Ahmed, has been invited to 11th Geneva International Oriental Film Festival (FIFOG). The festival will take place from April 11 to 17 in Geneva. DhakaLive has news that ‘Krishnapakkha’ will be screened on the concluding day of the festival on April 17.
The story of the film evolves around an unemployed boy named Muhib who comes to live with his sister.  She falls in love with Aura. Aura’s family fixes her marriage with Abrar, but she elopes with Muhib and gets married to him. Their wedding was filled with snippets of memories of laughter and joy, but mostly a rakish yellow punjabi. Fated to meet a fatal car crash on the day after, his life hangs in the balance of sweeping uncertainty.
Produced by Impress Telefilm, popular actors Riaz and Mahiya Mahi have paired up together for the first time through the film. Among others, Ferdous, Tania Ahemd, Moutushi Biswas, Azad Abul Kalam, Kayes Ahemd and Faruk Ahmed have acted in the film. In the film Riaz plays the role of Muhib while Mahia Mahi plays as Aura and Tania Ahmed as his sister. Ferdous plays as Abrar, who lives in a foreign country.
To note, The FIFOG is a major cinematic event in the cultural landscape of Switzerland, which promotes cinema, diversity and intercultural dialogue. Supported by more than 200 partners, every year it screens all kinds of movies, with sixty guests invited from the Orient and the Occident. On this occasion, five jury members award a golden-FIFOG award and a silver-FIFOG award. This edition would also like to pay a special tribute to the deceased Omar Sharif, a famous actor both in Orient and Occident, by screening some of his films.
