Jatiya Party chairman HM Ershad yesterday continued to vent his anger against irregularities and rigging in the recent union parishad election across the country saying no fair election is possible under the present Election Commission. The former president was giving his observation at his party’s Manikganj unit biennial council at Zila Parishad Auditorium. He said public money is being plundered in the country now. The people of the country are owner of the plundered money, he said adding, “Tk30,000 crores have been plundered from Bangladesh Bank. They money looters remain out of reach as they are relatives of ruling party leaders.”
Ershad said people have now no security of their lives and property. He said the ruling Awami League conspired to win the union parishad polls. He said people are now fed-up with the misrule of the current regime and it has failed to ensure peace and stability in the country. “People want fair elections and a proper atmosphere to lead a normal life. They want to get rid of the current miserable condition.” Criticising the Election Commission, the Jatiya Party chief said the election commission men are afraid of losing job.
