Stocks end week in green

Stock market finished another week in green, with showing strong recovery in few past trading sessions when buying spree of the investors also continued for the second consecutive week, reports BSS.
The broader index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) gained 85.53 points in the week, with closing at 4443.06. The blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES also closed the week upwards at 1686.23 and 1075.90 accordingly.
Chittagong Stock Exchange DSE) (CSE) finished the week up, with its major CSCX index finishing at 8,304.78. Majority of the market cap leaders except ICB, Olympic and Berger Paint gained in the week. Average daily turnover in value during the week on DSE increased by 21.8 per cent to Taka 408.66 crore when the daily trade volume rose by nearly 21.0 per cent to 12.19 crore shares.
Among the major gaining sectors of the week were service and real estate, IT, and fuel and power when the losing sectors were textile and miscellaneous.
Top gaining companies were IBN Sina (17.7 per cent), Pragati Life (15 pr cent) and SA Port (14.1 per cent). The major losing companies were DSSL (-13.6 per cent), First Security Islami Bank (-8.9 per cent) and Aramit (-8.8 per cent) respectively.
On Wednesday, the boarder DSEX of DSE recovered by 4.14 points to finish the day in green at 4413.85, with the blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES following it upwards to 1670.52 and 1067.63 accordingly.
The major CSCX index of Chittagong Stock Exchange DSE) (CSE), however, fell on Wednesday to close at 8248.59.
On the day, most of the traded issues on DSE and CSE incurred loss. Out of the traded 316 securities, 102 gained, 160 incurred loss and 54 remained static. On CSE, 86 scrips closed higher against 120 losing securities when 37 remained static.
Despite the price fall in the majority of the issues traded, the price indices at DSE closed flat in green due to higher activities around large-cap securities.
The higher activities drove the daily trade value at DSE to Tk 427.66 crore from Tuesday’s Tk 317.78 crore while the volume was up to 12.66 crore shares over previous day’s 9.95 crore shares.
