‘Gohine Shobdo’ to be screened at BSA today

‘Gohine Shobdo’ (Dark Resonance), the debut feature film by recently demised filmmaker Khalid Mahmood Mithu, will be screened today at 6:30pm at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) at Segun Bagicha in the city. The film is being screened as a part of the weeklong film screening to mark National Film Day 2016. BSA has organised the event featuring National Film Award-winning films at the International Cultural Archive of the Academy’s National Theatre Hall. Beginning on April 4, the event will be running until April 10.Released on March 26, 2010, the focal point of the story of ‘Gohine Shobdo’ is an apparently impossible relationship between Niloy and Swapna. Swapna is the daughter of parents who beg for a living. On the other hand, Niloy who studies at the same university as Swapna, belongs to an affluent family. Niloy develops feelings for Swapna, who tries to convince him that a relationship between them would be impossible -- the difference between the classes is unsurpassable. But an emotionally overwhelmed Niloy does not agree to reason, as he still does not know what Swapna’s father does for a living. Reality hits hard when Niloy finds out the truth. ‘Gohine Shobdo’ stars Emon, Kushum Sikder, Masum Aziz, Shams Sumon and Abul Hayat. Mithu’s ‘Gohine Shobdo’ won the National Film Award for Best Film for the year 2010. To note, each day, one film (April 4: ‘Brihannala’, April 5: ‘Mrittika Maya’, April 6: ‘Uttorer Sur’, April 7: ‘Guerilla’, April 8: ‘Gohine Shabda’, April 9: ‘Monpora’ and April 10: ‘Daruchini Dwip’) is being screened at 6:30pm at the BSA’s same venue.
