Science, innovation fair to be held today
The Science and Innovation Fair for students of Bangladesh (SIFSB) 2016 will be held today at 7.30 am to 5.00 pm at Saint Joseph Higher Secondary School of Dhaka, says a press release. This event provides an opportunity for the creative young innovators to represent Bangladesh in global science and technology convention. The students from both private and government educational institutes who are from class 8 to class 12 can participate in this event. The champion team will be given a prestigious certificate from global tech giant Intel; in addition, the team will be eligible to avail Tk 15,000 prize money and 2 years tuition fee as well; prize money for the first runners-up team is Tk 10,000 as well as one year tuition fee and the second-runners up team will be given a total prize money of Tk 5,000 and 1 year tuition fee. The 10 top participants will receive certificate, the statement added. Goldberg Mobile is the platinum sponsor of the event. In addition, a major role in the event is being played by partner agency AdClub. Besides, the PR partner of this event, Concito PR will take lead to spread the success story of SIFSB 2016 to mass people through the media.
Advanced Instrument Centre opens at JnU
A lab named ‘Advanced Instrument Centre (AIC)’ was launched at the Chemistry Department of Jagannath University (JnU) on Wednesday, said a press release. JnU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Mijanur Rahman inaugurated the lab as Chief Guest around 12pm on the day. The lab was launched as part of sub-project titled ‘Advancement of Teaching and Learning at undergraduate and Master’s Level in Chemistry’ currently under the HEQEP project’s Window-1 for conducting modern research works.
Job fair for physically challenged people Apr 23
A two-day job fair titled ‘We have the right to serve’ for the physically challenged people in the country will begin on April 23 at Krishibid Institution Bangladesh in the capital, says a press release. The fair, first of this type in the country, is going to be organised by Bangladesh Protibondhi Kallayan Samity (BPKS) and job portal ‘jobsbd’ in association with Daffodil International University (DIU). The fair aimed at to help the physically challenged people to find their dream jobs, the employers to find their suitable candidates as a part of their corporate social responsibilities. It was informed at a ‘Meet the Press’ held at Dhaka Reporters Unity yesterday. KM Hasan Ripon, chief executive officer, jobsbd informed the details of the fair at the Meet the Press. More than 50 organisations are expected to take part in the fair to offer job opportunities to the disabled people. Meetings and seminars will also be held in the fair to boost self confidence of the people with disabilities, he said. The fair will remain open from 10:00am to 5:00pm for all. The Meet the Press was addressed by Md Abdus Sattar Dulal, founder and executive director of Bangladesh Protibondhi Kallayan Samity (BPKS), AKM Fazlul Haque, registrar of DIU, among others.
