New political outfit comes into being

A new political party, Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Janata Dal (BJJD), has been formed “to implement former President Ziaur Rahman’s ideology of peaceful and sustainable democracy in the country”.
Foez Chowdhury, an Advocate of the High Court, also Convener of the party, will officially announce launch of the new party at a press conference in the Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) today. Choudhury told The Independent that they will announce a 101-member ad hoc committee headed by him.
He also said that a number of senior leaders in different parties, including the former whip of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Ashraf Hossain, leader of Bikalpodhara, Mahi B Chowdhury, and expelled Jatiya Party leader, Bobby Hajjaz, will take part in the inaugural ceremony of the new party at Banani Ground on April 8.
“A number of political leaders, including from the ruling Awami League, who have been deprived of posts in the party, will attend the inaugural ceremony,” he said. “But, we will never accommodate anyone from the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, since they were involved in genocide in the 1971 Liberation War.”
“We will form the full executive committee of the proposed political party by holding its first National Council,” he said. “After floating the party, different wings, central committee, and district and upazila committees would be formed with the aim of participating in the next parliamentary elections scheduled in 2019.”
Foez Chowdhury, a former General Secretary of Bikalpa Chhatra Dhara, student wing of Bikalpa Dhara, also said they will register the party with the Election Commission for participating in the next elections. He said the party is presently operating from his residence 28, Road 63,Gulshan-2, Dhaka — and hoped that well-meaning people from different political parties will join the party.
