Speedy trial in sexual assault cases demanded

Rangpur district unit of Samajtantrik Chatra Front, a left-leaning student body, and Bangladesh Nari Mukti Kendra jointly submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister through District Administration Rangpur, demanding speeding up trials of sexual assault cases on women. Additional Deputy Commissioner ATM Mahabubul Karim received the memorandum on behalf of the District Administration, Rangpur. In memorandum they said the government yet to take strong steps regarding the trial of those, who are involved in women repression cases. They also appealed the government to take necessary steps to stop sexual assault on women.   They also urged the people from all walks of life to come forward and resist the women repression. Around 5,000 people from all walks of life signed the memorandum. Rakunuzzaman, acting secretary of Samajtantrik Chattra Front, Rangpur district unit, Kamrun Nahar Khanam, finance secretary of Nari Mukti Kehdra, Rangpur were present on the occasion.
