The residents of the city will start getting the benefit of development projects by the next six months, Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Annisul Huq said yesterday. “We have begun working with a list to solve the civic problems in the DNCC area. We have already formed 16 committees at different parts in Dhaka North for different projects. If everything goes well, we will get the benefit within next six months. We are also monitoring the prices of daily essentials ahead of the Ramzan,” Annisul wrote on his Facebook wall yesterday. The mayor said, “We will sit with the real estate companies to remove water-logging and develop the drainage system in the city. The drainage system in Kuril area used narrow sewerage pipes which cause water-logging even after a little rain in Nikunja area. There is no sewerage line in Mirpur too. The Rupnagar canal has been occupied and the locals filled it with garbage. We will set the solution within the next six months. However, our initiatives will go in vain until the general people become conscious.” Annisul said that 100 new schools and recreation center will be established in the city area, street lights will be ensured, and illegal billboards will be demolished. He also answered to some questions posted on his wall and urged the city residents to provide suggestions and lodge complaints on “Amra Dhaka” web site to ensure services to the people.
