Police in separate drives arrested local leaders of BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami in the district early yesterday. Police also recovered four bombs, one 9 MM pistol during the drive. Assistant Police Superin­tendent Gopinath Kanzilal said Kotchandpur police arrested Moabia Hossain, secretary of Kotchandpur upazila unit Jamaat with four bombs.  In another drive Jhenidah police arrested joint secretary of district Sramik Dal Sayidur Rahman from his house at Paglakanai in the district town.
