Deal signed with UK firm

The government yesterday signed an agreement with a British firm, Redline Aviation Security Ltd, to improve the security system at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
Acting Director of the Civil Aviation Authority, Bangladesh (Caab) Nurul Islam and Redline CEO Paul Mason signed the deal on behalf of their respective sides at the Caab headquarters.
Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon and Caab Chairman Air Vice Marshal M Sanaul Huq
were present at the signing ceremony.
Talking to reporters, Menon said the Redline Aviation Security Ltd will provide consultancy services, supervise airport security, and guide and train the airport manpower, and it will begin their job on Tuesday.
Earlier on Sunday, the Cabinet Purchase Committee approved a proposal to appoint the British security firm for the job.
Redline Aviation Security Ltd won the contract, involving Tk 73.25 crore, to provide the three types of service for the next two years.
