Today’s popular actor Aliraj made his entry to the media through a TV play on Bangladesh Television (BTV) many years ago. He acted for the first time in the BTV drama titled ‘Bhangoner Shabda Shuni’, written by Selim Al Deen and directed by Nasir Uddin Yusuf Bacchu. Interestingly, Aliraj was known as W Anwar at that time.
However, a lifetime opportunity knocked the door of his fate in 1984, which came along with a unique offer of working in the film ‘Sot Bhai’ under the direction of Nayak Raj-famed actor Razzak. After releasing the film in the same year, Aliraj became regular in acting. Instead of his former name as W Anwar, the actor started to move forward with his new name Aliraj, which was given by Razzak.
Then, he acted as a hero in about 110 films, including Momtaz Ali’s ‘Niyat’ and Azharul Islam Khan’s ‘Sahojatri’. In this remarkable journey, he paired up with actress Aruna Biswas as his heroine most of the time. The duo first acted together in the film ‘Kaifiat’. After that, they paired up together in a number of notable films, including ‘Somman’, ‘Durnam’, and ‘Lal Benaroshi’.
Aliraj turned 59 on March 15, who has also completed the eventful journey of three long decades in acting recently.
Aliraj said about his journey in acting, “Because of Nayak Raj Razzak’s noteworthy contribution to my career, I am today’s Aliraj. So therefore, I always had, have and will have immense honour and love for this great personality. Besides, acting in the late noted filmmaker Chashi Nazrul Islam’s ‘Padma, Meghna, Jamuna’ was also another great achievement in my life. If Chashi Nazrul’s another film ‘Kathgora’ were released in the 90s, it could have been another milestone for me. Even though, I am satisfied with my today’s position and achievement. I want to live forever with the love of the viewers.”
Hailing from Sirajganj, Aliraj always expresses his gratefulness to veteran cinematographer Anwar Hossain Bulu, who has always been an immense support for Aliraj till today.
Aliraj is currently busy with the shooting of several films, such as Shamimul Islam Shamim’s ‘Amar Prem Amar Priya’, Sajal Ahmed’s ‘Tui Amar’, Shafiq Hasan’s ‘Dhumketu’, Shahedur Rahman’s ‘Real Man’ and Anwar’s ‘Meye Kar’. Besides, he is regularly working in the drama serial titled ‘Raju 420’ under the direction of actor-director Zahid Hasan. l
