March 20 marks the ‘World Children and Youth Theatre Day’ and to observe the occasion, Peoples Theatre Association (PTA)--the local representative of ASSITEJ, a global network of theatre for children and young people--in association of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA), organised a day-long programme with the theme ‘Shishu Hotyar Bikkhobe Aj Kapuk Basundhara’ at the National Art Plaza of BSA. The day-long celebration included a celebratory rally, horse riding for children, discussion and cultural programme.
Presided over by BSA director general Liaquat Ali Lucky, Primary and Mass Education Minister Advocate Mostafizur Rahman was present on the occasion as chief guest, while Ain o Salish Kendra executive director Sultana Kamal was present as special guest.
After the discussion, children and youth artistes from different organisations, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy repertory Nritya Dal, Shishu Sangeet Dal and Acrobatic Dal presented dance performance, recitation, magic show and acrobatic show.
Later, in memory of abused children, candle lighting, shishu sangeet and presentation was held. The celebration of ‘World Children and Youth Theatre Day 2016’ come to an end through distributing the prizes of raffle draw among the children.
