BSA celebrates World Puppet Day today

Marking the World Puppet Day, Theatre and Film Department of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) is organising a day-long puppet theatre show, most commonly known as ‘Putul Nach’ today at BSA.
The show will feature discussion, workshop on puppet theatre and showcasing puppet dances.   Arranged by Jol Putul puppet troupe, a puppet making workshop and exhibition with the general and underprivileged children will be held in the lobby of the National and Experimental Theatre Hall of BSA at 3:30pm.
On the other hand, Jol Putul puppet troupe will present an ‘Open Puppet Show’ at the premises of the National Theatre Hall at 6pm.
Presided over by Liaquat Ali Lucky, a discussion programme followed by an honourary award distribution ceremony, will be held at the Experimental Theatre Hall of BSA at 6:30pm.
This year, ‘Putul Natto Sammanona 2016’ will be conferred on puppeteer Abdul Kuddus from Kushtia. Veteran artist Mustafa Monowar will attend the occasion as chief guest, while Syed Jamil Ahmed will be present as the discussant. Besides, puppeteers Jarina Begum, Khelu Mia and Boloram Rajbanshi will share their experiences at the event.
The programme will come to end with the traditional puppet dance presented by Jahangirnagar University.   l
