‘Poramati’ to be staged at Mahila Samity today

Padatik Natya Sangsad Bangladesh, one of the prominent theatre troupes in the country, will stage their much-acclaimed production ‘Poramati’ today at 7pm at the Mahila Samity Mancha in the capital’s Baily Road, as a part of a month-long theatre festival titled ‘Bhanga-Gora Natya Utsab’. ‘Poramati’ – a piece on the Liberation War is the 31st production of the troupe, scripted by Babul Biswas and directed by Dr. Irin Parvin Lopa. The play depicts the torture and genocide that was inflicted on the intellectuals of the country just two days prior the independence of Bangladesh. The probable casts of the play includes Amiya Mizan, Kamruzzaman Pavel, Al Amin, Mahmuda Akter Lita, Faruk Faisal Duke and Kamal Hossain. Selim SH Chowdhury, team Leader of Padatik Natya Sangsad Bangladesh said about the play, “The play upholds the spirit of the Liberation War and also honoured the sacrifice of our Martyred Intellectuals who laid their lives for the country.” Tickets will be available in front of the hall before the show. However, Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation, in association with Ministry of Cultural Affairs, has organised the month-long ‘Bhanga-Gora Natya Utsab’ from February 28 with the slogan ‘Manche Natok Dekhun, Oitihasik Mohila Samity Manche Asun’ at the Mahila Samity Mancha.
