Teachers in non-government educational institutions will be recruited online from April. The government has taken this initiative to ensure transparency in recruitment and to remove errors from the process. The Non-Government Teachers’ Registration and Certification Authority (NTRCA) has already prepared a merit list of candidates who applied for the NTRCA examination, according to sources in the education ministry.
Previously, the management committee of non-government educational institutions had the absolute authority to recruit teachers. But the government has recently clipped the committees’ wings after allegations of corruption in the recruitment process surfaced. The government has now decided to appoint teachers through a central examination of NTRCA. A merit list will be announced according to the demand for teachers in non-government educational institutions at the upazila, district, division and national levels.
The recruitment process will begin with those candidates who have passed the NTRCA exams and applied online. The NTRCA will send the name of the applicants against each post to the educational institution concerned according to demand. The managing committee or the governing body of the institution will issue the appointment letter within a month, said the sources.
“Online recruitment of teachers will begin in April. This will ensure transparency and make the process error-free. The teachers will be appointed on merit,” education minister Nurul Islam Nahid said yesterday. An agreement was signed between NTRCA and the state-run mobile operator, Teletalk, for the online recruitment. NTRCA chairman AMM Azhar and managing director of Teletalk, Gias Uddin Ahmed, signed the agreement. Post and telecommunications minister Tarana Halim and education secretary Md Sohrab Hossain were also present at Nahid’s office in the Secretariat when the agreement was signed.
