President apprised of planning of proposed Mithamoin Cantonment

President Abdul Hamid was apprised of overall planning of the proposed Mithamoin Cantonment through a power-point presentation at Bangabhaban yesterday, reports BSS.
The cantonment will be set up on 1,044 acres of land and the land acquisition for it is now underway, which is expected to be completed by October this year, according to the presentation.
At the presentation, 14 Independent Engineers' Brigade Commander Brigadier General ASM Mahmud Hasan also informed President Hamid that once the cantonment is established, the socioeconomic development of the area would be expedited apart from the expansion of the infrastructure of the army.
Abdul Hamid asked the authorities concerned to take necessary steps to protect the overall environment of the area during the establishment of the cantonment.
Besides, he also instructed them to take measures for river-training and keeping the biodiversity of haor area intact.
Chief of Army Staff General Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiul Huq was present during the presentation.
Secretaries concerned to the president were present. Mithamoin is an upazila of Kishoreganj district in Dhaka division.
