BNP wants govt’s
cooperation

BNP on Thursday sought all-out cooperation from the government in making its sixth national council a success, reports UNB. Talking to reporters at the council venue of the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB), BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir also demanded the government permit the party use a part of Suhrawardy Udyan to accommodate their huge delegates. “We hope we’ll be able to hold our council properly and it’ll surely keep a positive role in the country’s democratic politics. We expect that the government will extend all-out cooperation in making the council a success,” he said. Mentioning that huge enthusiasm has been created among their party leaders and activists across the country over the council, the BNP leader said it will help their party rise and make a turnaround. Fakhrul said they have already overcome various obstacles to preparing for the council.
He said they have sought permission for using a part of Suhrawardy Udyan so that they can make a sitting arrangement for their party delegates as the space of the IEB is very limited. “We hope the authorities concerned will take proper steps to allow us to use the Suhrawardy Udyan.” Replying to a question, he said they do not fear any acts of sabotage centring on their council on March 19. Earlier, Fakhrul along with the conveners of party’s different subcommittees visited the council venue IEB to witness the last hours’ preparatory works.
