RAJSHAHI: State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam said power supply is very vital and there is no alternative to it for upholding the country's development and production, reports BSS. For this reason, the present government has attached highest priority to the sector and has been implementing massive and effective projects. By 2018, all the households in Bagha and Charghat Upazilas will get power supply. The educational institutions having no power supply will also get electricity connection. Besides, there will no more non-concrete road in the two upazilas.
He made these observations while inaugurating the new power supply to two villages under Charghat Upazila in the district on Wednesday afternoon as chief guest.
Under the scheme, 58 families in Muktarpur and Nawdara villages get power connections. For the purpose, 0.549-kilometer distribution line and three transformers were set up at a cost of Taka 13.80 lakh.
Shahriar said the previous massive power debacle and load-shedding has been reduced to a greater extent. At present, people of the country don't experience erratic power supply. The government has been implementing prompt, short, medium and long- term planning which has helped the power sector attain unprecedented success.
General Manager of Natore Rural Electrification Board Nitai Kumar Sarker, Deputy General Manager Abdul Kader and Upazila Nirbahi Officer Abdus Samad also spoke.
