Shubachan Natya Shangshad will stage their acclaimed theatrical production ‘Mohajoner Nao’ today at 7pm at the Mahila Samity Mancha in the capital’s Baily Road, as a part of a month-long theatre festival titled ‘Bhanga-Gora Natya Utsab’.
The story, based on the life and philosophy of the late Baul Samrat Shah Abdul Karim, is written by Shakoor Majid and directed as well as choreographed by Sudip Chakroborty. Baul Samrat showed signs of his musical talents from a young age, and though his schooling was not extensive, he went on to become one of the most acclaimed folk musicians of his time, who wrote and composed over 1600 songs. Six books have been published by the Bangla Academy till the date of his songs, and ten of his songs have also been translated into English and published as a separate compilation by the Academy.
To note, Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation, in association with Ministry of Cultural Affairs, has organised the month-long ‘Bhanga-Gora Natya Utsab’ from February 28 with the slogan ‘Manche Natok Dekhun, Oitihasik Mohila Samity Manche Asun’ at the Mahila Samity Mancha.
