Call to implement job quota for the disabled

RANGPUR: Strict implementation of the job quota fixed by the government must be ensured in government, nongovernment and private organisations for mainstreaming of the physically challenged people, reports BSS.
Human rights activists and leaders of different organisations working for welfare of the disabled people opined this at a meeting held here on Monday afternoon for exploring and ensuring job opportunities of the physically challenged people.
The District Employment Implementation Committee for Physically Challenged People organised the meeting at its office in Katchari Bazaar area in the city with its President Advocate M A Basher Tipu in the chair.
ADD International, Rangdhanu District Protibondhi Adhikar Sangstha (RZPAS) and Prottyasha Protibondhi Nari O Shishu Unnayan Sangstha (PPNOSUS) assisted arranging the meeting with assistance of Manusher Janno Foundation.
Members of the committee Advocate Khairul Anam Kalam, Tamzida Zannati Shilpi, Advocate AKM Harunur Rashid, Rabiul Islam, Ataur Rahman, Nahid Sultana, Ummey Kulsum, Ful Mian and Shakil Ahmed, addressed among others.
The meeting discussed various related issues for further strengthening activities of the organisation and availing bank loans to set up handloom and cottage industries for the                       physically challenged people for creating their job opportunities.
The speakers stressed for creating awareness on legal and constitutional rights of the physically challenged population, good governance and coordination in and among different organisations of the disabled people to enhance their job opportunities.
