seeks Indian cooperation

State Minister for Power and Energy Nasrul Hamid yesterday sought Indian cooperation to enhance cross-border power and energy transmission, reports UNB. He made the plea when newly appointed Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka Harsh Vardhan Shringla met him at his power ministry office in Bangladesh Secretariat. "Bangladesh wants to import electricity from Bhutan through Indian corridor," the junior minister told the Indian envoy. Both minister and high commissioner discussed various issues regarding Bangladesh-India cooperation for development of power and energy sector, said a ministry statement. The high commissioner also expressed his country's intension to continue cooperation in Bangladesh energy and power sector. The issues of power import from India, import of LNG and diesel from India though pipeline, Rampal power plant construction and private investment came up for discussion.
