DINAJPUR: At least 61 houses were gutted in a devastating fire at Khanshama upazila of the district on Saturday night, reports BSS. Ververi Union Parishad Chairman Abdul Haque Siraji said the fire originated from an electric short circuit. Two cattle, four goats, many poultry birds, two motorcycles, ornaments, clothes, books and others valuables were gutted in the fire. After getting information, four units of firefighting from Nilphamari and Syedpur fire stations rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control after five hours of frantic efforts. Khanshama UNO distributed 20 kg of rice and two blankets to each victim's family. Besides, different organisations supplied foods and others essentials to the victims.
