‘Increase awareness to prevent road accidents’
Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Arefin Siddique stressed the need for enhancing awareness among transport workers, owners and general people to prevent road accidents. “Road accident has become a national problem. Transport owners and workers should be professionally sincere to overcome this problem. People will also have to be conscious about traffic rules,” he said while addressing a seminar on 'Causalities in Road Accident: Socio-Economic Crisis' at Public Library seminar room at Shahbagh in the capital on Saturday. Jatiya Oikya organised the seminar with its chief coordinator Abdur Rahim in the chair. Professor of DU Sociology Department AI Mahbub Uddin Ahmed addressed the seminar as the special guest while Bangladesh Reconditioned Vehicles Importers and Dealers Association (Barvida) president Md Abdul Hamid Sharif, Shyamoli Paribahan Managing Director Ramesh Chandra Ghosh and Workers leader Md Ali Reza, spoke on the occasion, among others. The DU VC emphasized on introducing school and community based awareness-building academic activities to prevent road accident. A long banner inscribed with pictures of road accidents was exhibited on the Public Library premises.
Seminar on studying in USA
The Language Club of ASA University Bangladesh (ASAUB) has organised a seminar on ‘studying abroad in USA’ on its premises on Wednesday, says a press release. Sausan Rahmatullah, adviser of Education USA, was the key speaker of the session. British Council book reading competition and prize giving ceremony was also held on that day. Prize and certificates were awarded by Dalem Ch Barman, vice-chancellor of ASAUB. Adviser of Education USA Sausan Rahmatullah said that Language Club of ASAUB is doing an excellent job for the students to build a bright future. Abu Daud Hasan, dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, chairmen and faculty members of different departments and students were present in the session.
